I'm Yuuki Shinomiya of POKEGO. I recently got the Libra app and did some backreading and saw you mention a meeting that you didn't want phones at.
I'll be frank: I'm a hacker and coder (I can get you a list of the apps I've coded if you want proof) and I'm guessing that meeting involved something you didn't want to risk people recording or something. I'm extremely interested and I can give you my email, Discord handle, or any other means of communication if you don't want to use something that has Libra on it.
[ It takes a little while for the response to come back – there's the telltale coming and going of a typing bubble to indicate that she's choosing her words very particularly but the response that comes through is maybe a little unexpected; ]
?
Sorry, I think you might be getting me confused with someone else. I don't really hold meetings or anything, but I've had study groups at the university library once or twice during our lunch hour, but that's the closest thing I can think of.
Sorry I can't be of more help to you.
[ ... or maybe it's exactly what he'd expected to see. ]
Ah well. I've been visiting the campus on Wednesdays to talk about enrolling, maybe that's what I saw. Sorry to bother you.
[However, he is absolutely on the campus on Wednesday, if Ryoko is there, and he is wearing a POKEGO sweatshirt since that's really the only identification he gave the girl, and he doesn't know what she looks like.]
[ It's a little into lunch hour that a slight, exhausted looking girl falls quite casually into step behind Yuuki as naturally as if she simply happened to be going in the same direction as him without a care in the world. It's not until there's nobody around the two of them that she speaks up. ]
Shinomiya. [ Then, dryly; ] Thank you for announcing the private meeting to everyone who might have been listening in on my communications.
You didn't leave any other way of contacting you and anyway Zodiac's got too much other shit going on to care about private messages right now. So what was so important you had a no phones rule?
[ Ryoko gives a derisive snort but she concedes. He's probably right – she did all that planning right on the app after all, for lack of any other avenue to use. They probably suspect she's up to something, if they're paying attention at all. ]
Let's just say I have something I'm working on that I don't want Zodiac to hear about, regardless of how busy they might or might not be. They have good reason to believe I stole from them and I don't want any more eyes on me.
I'm making progress. There's a few roadblocks – the documents are heavily censored so there's a lot of information I'm missing. And half of it seems to build on an understanding of magic I just don't have, so I'm working around that. And the half I do understand – the coding – is built on outdated software architecture compared to what I'm used to. The computers in 2023 are much more primitive compared to my own era.
[ and now she's hitting him with the time travel brick as well.......... ]
[ Ryoko's gaze lingers on him for a little longer, lips pinched into a thin line before she finally gives a little scoff and it turns into a frown. Despite the apparent distaste, though, what comes out of her mouth isn't a denial but: ]
Fine. I'll bring an except of what I have so far and you can examine it and see what you think. It'll be a copy of the original and we'll exchange it at the library on Friday at noon. Does that suit you?
Hurry up and enrol, then. I'm not putting my work on hold for you.
[ And with that, she picks up her pace and overtakes him so she can set off for... whatever it is she's doing at the university today. C–conversation over, apparently?? ]

[He needed his bus pass okay?]
Don't even have my laptop with me.

[ COOL THINGS TO CASUALLY DROP WHILE MAKING A FIRST IMPRESSION WITH A STRANGER ]
It's a file to do with the software of the Libra app – encryption and magic and everything in between. I've been working on decoding it.

Shit. Any luck so far, or do you want some help?

Primitive? When the hell do you come from?!

Can I see what you've got so far? My personal computers are way better and stronger than what you can find in a library.

Besides, the more people who are involved in this, the greater chance we could end up with leaks. That isn't going to be a problem with you, is it?
[ ... There's really no other way to take that than a very politely implied threat. ]

No? Why would I be asking about this if I was a narc?

[ she's paranoid. that's it. ]

I'm POKEGO. They trust me less than they trust you.
